I’ve been looking into nursing programs in my area, and they all say something about going through a medical exam before being accepted in to the program. What kind of exam is it? It also says that they make sure you are free of any communicable diseases, which makes sense, but seems vague. What exactly do they test for?

Now here are ten useful tips of advice from a car accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a car accident in Carson, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s probably been at least a few days since the accident. However, if it’s only been a few hours or if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good car accident lawyer as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good car accident lawyer can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good car accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most car accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

Colorectal Cancer, also called colon cancer or large bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. It is the third most common form of cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the Western world. Colorectal Cancer is thought to arise from adenomatous polyps in the colon. These mushroom-shaped growths are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy. Therapy is usually through surgery, which in many cases is followed by chemotherapy. Cancer of the colon and rectum also referred to as Colorectal Cancer can invade and damage adjacent tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also break away and spread to other parts of the body (such as liver and lung) where new tumours form. The spread of colon cancer to distant organs is called metastasis of the colon cancer. Once metastasis has occurred in colorectal cancer, a complete cure of the cancer is unlikely.

The symptoms can also be certain as -

Polyps – growth inside the colon and rectum that may become cancerous. A diet that is high in fat. A family history or personal history of colorectal cancer. Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease

The symptoms of Colorectal Cancer depend on the location of tumour in bowel and whether it has spread to elsewhere in the body metastasis. Most of the symptoms may occur in other diseases as well, and hence none of the symptoms mentioned here is diagnostic of colorectal cancer. Symptoms and signs are divided into local, constitutional affecting the whole body and metastatic caused by spread to other organs. Local symptoms are more likely if the tumour is located closer to the anus. There may be a change in bowel habit (new-onset constipation or diarrhoea in the absence of another cause), and a feeling of incomplete defecation (tenesmus) and reduction in diameter of stool; tenesmus and change in stool shape are both characteristic of rectal cancer. Lower gastrointestinal bleeding, including the passage of bright red blood in the stool, may indicate Colorectal Cancer, as may the increased presence of mucus. Melena, black stool with a tarry appearance, normally occurs in upper gastrointestinal bleeding (such as from a duodenal ulcer) but is sometimes encountered in colorectal cancer when the disease is located in the beginning of the large bowel.

A tumour that is large enough to fill the entire lumen of the bowel may cause bowel obstruction. This situation is characterized by constipation, abdominal pain, and abdominal distension and vomiting. This occasionally leads to the obstructed and distended bowel perforating and causing peritonitis. Certain local effects of Colorectal Cancer occur when the disease has become more advanced. A large tumour is more likely to be noticed on feeling the abdomen, and it may be noticed by a doctor on physical examination. The disease may invade other organs, and may cause blood or air in the urine (invasion of the bladder) or vaginal discharge (invasion of the female reproductive tract). Colorectal cancer most commonly spreads to the liver. This may go unnoticed, but large deposits in the liver may cause jaundice and abdominal pain (due to stretching of the capsule). If the tumour deposit obstructs the bile duct, the jaundice may be accompanied by other features of biliary obstruction, such as pale stools. The following tests and procedures may be used:

Physical exam and history: An exam of the body to check general signs of health, including checking for signs of disease, such as lumps or anything else that seems unusual. A history of the patient’s health habits and past illnesses and treatments will also be taken. Fecal occult blood test: A test to check stool (solid waste) for blood that can only be seen with a microscope. Small samples of stool are placed on special cards and returned to the doctor or laboratory for testing. Digital rectal exam: An exam of the rectum. The doctor or nurse inserts a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum to feel for lumps or anything else that seems unusual. Sigmoidoscopy: A procedure to look inside the rectum and sigmoid (lower) colon for polyps (small pieces of bulging tissue), abnormal areas, or cancer. Colonoscopy: A procedure to look inside the rectum and colon for polyps, abnormal areas, or cancer. A colonoscope is inserted through the rectum into the colon. Biopsy: The removal of cells or tissues so they can be viewed under a microscope by a pathologist to check for signs of cancer.

Let’s start by defining who the RDA applies to. The RDA applies to the average person that you may know. So who are these average people? The “average person” is defined as an adult under 60 years old, experiencing good health, dealing with little to no stress, no medical problems, not on medication, eating a balanced diet of 2000 calories per day, with good digestion and at an ideal body weight.

Now that we can all see that the above description defines most all of us we can rest assured that the RDA is taking care of all of our nutritional needs. Ok, so maybe the dripping sarcasm was a bit much, but I could not resist. Well if by chance you do fit into the above description there are a few more things that you may want to read before you checkout.

According to numerous sources it has been well documented that most adult men and women are deficient even by the RDA standards. You ask why that should be cause for alarm? There is more and more research being made available daily that further reinforces the fact that many diseases can be prevented and/or slowed down including: heart disease, cancers, arthritis, osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis and the list goes on. Further more, research shows that this can only be accomplished if your body is being supplied with optimal amounts of the vitamins and minerals that our diet is severely lacking in. In case you didn’t notice I said “optimal amounts”. What you may not know is that the optimal amounts in many cases are much higher than the RDA. While we are all different, by consulting with a knowledgeable professional in nutritional medicine they will be able to properly counsel you on what your particular needs may be.

What I have just described above is what applies to those “average persons” and those that may be close to being average. Take into account our elderly population, children, smokers, drinkers, city dwellers, those suffering from acute illness, athletes, people that are on medication, and pregnant or nursing women and you have very large groups of people that are walking around daily in a deficient nutrient state. It is estimated that more than half of the Americans over the age of 60 have reduced nutrient intake and as a result are malnourished. While you may not notice it in the people around you their cells are screaming for the very nutrients that could stave off many of the chronic diseases that they are faced with daily. In spite of the fact that many of these problems could be solved with the proper nutrition these people are handed yet another prescription and sent along their way and exposed to premature death.

While the RDAs were never meant to be a foundation for the production of natural supplements it seems that everyone seems to be focused on how their product rates against the RDA. A much more logical approach would be to base the production of these natural supplements on the most current medical research and/or clinical trials. What makes this fact even more frustrating is the fact that the RDAs are not even based on scientific research. At best the RDA values have been set based on political agendas. The amount of research over the past 20+ years that has found that the American public is at risk for less than adequate nutrients should be some cause for alarm. Yet little progress has been made in updating the RDAs to reflect more optimal values based on what current medical/biochemical research points out as the nutrient levels that we should have in our bodies.

While supplements should not be an excuse for not trying to maintain a healthy balanced diet, it is a well documented fact that supplementation is required if you are going to try to maintain any type of anti-aging. While none of us have a guarantee of tomorrow I fully expect to maintain the highest quality of life that I can reasonably expect. In short I want to live my life and not simply exist and based on all of the research that is available the RDA is not going to get me anything except maybe average health. I don’t know about you guys that are reading this, but if you haven’t walked through a nursing home lately let me tell you that average is nothing to aspire to.

Many of the nutritional vitamins and minerals that we need in our daily intake provide the antioxidants that our bodies need to repair the damage that is done just by virtue of the fact that we are breathing. Add to that damage the additional damage done to our bodies due to the daily stresses that we live with, toxins that are in our environment and suddenly it becomes readily apparent that our bodies are under constant attack from free radicals. Fortunately, Univera LifeSciences has provided us with AgelessXtra to help combat the free radical damage that is done to our bodies daily. Just 1 fluid once of AgelessXtra Concentrate provides the antioxidant protection of more than 10 servings of fruits and vegetables. When was the last time that you had 10 servings of fruits and vegetables in a single day? For those of you who may be finding it to be a challenge to get all of the folic acid that you need (dark green leafy vegetables) MetaGreens may be just what you are looking for. One table spoon of MetaGreens mixed into water or your favorite juice is equivalent to having 5 large dark green leafy salads. For those of you that may find it to be a challenge to get balanced meals in between all the phone calls, appointments, and deadlines, Ageless Essentials is the most nutrient dense superfood that you will be able to find anywhere. More importantly, Ageless Essentials is not only packed with all of the nutrients that your body could every hope for, it has been design with Nano technology so that you body does not have to work nearly has hard to absorb those needed nutrients. Conservatively speaking your body should absorb 95% of the available vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fatty acids within approximately 20 minutes. Compare that to the hours that you body would be required to digest your typical fast food packed with calories, little to no nutrition and enough saturated fat to clog the best of arteries and you will quickly see why Ageless Essentials has become a favorite among many.

As I hope you can see from this entry the RDA falls embarrassingly short when it comes to the nutrients that you body (every cell) is screaming for. What I have covered here does not even do this subject justice, but I hope I have at least generated enough interest that you will feel compelled to do some further research. If there is enough interest, I will at some time in the near future compile some of the research materials that I have into a list of what many experts define as optimal amounts or an Optimal Daily Allowance (ODA) for many of the nutrients that we need to maintain a healthy life style.

I think its fine to get it if you want to make your self look/feel prettier or better in some way. But why do the girls on Rock of Love 3 have to look soooo scary!?? I have a mole on my wrist that is rather large. But Do I have to go to a cosmetic surgeon to get it removed? Why can’t the dermatologist do it? The last time I saw a dermatologist I was 15, and he sort of ignored me and even asked my mom if I shave my legs.. Dude.. Im 15 and there is no hair on them DUH.. And he left 1/2 way through and got a nurse to come in and finish my appointment.. Anyway Is it something a dermatologist can do? its about 1/2 an inch in diamiter and not really raised up. So what can I do about this, and if I have to go to a plastic surgeon how much would that cost?
I dont care about scars.. I am a piercing/tattoo kind of girl. So whats a little scar.
